2x2 hands of blue
2 weeks ago my teams switched from 6-8 people following Scrum to pods of 2 people cowboy coding circles around the old teams. Used to be the hard part was figuring out how to prioritize and build the software we wanted, now the hard part is figuring out what is worth summoning from our Star Trek replicator…and what to do with it once we have it.
Teams of 2 people, 2 week cycles–spiky teams with different strengths (and job tracks) and different perspectives. Daily updates posted to Slack, async, get it in whenever.
Building isn’t the point anymore; now we hunt. Head of product says what he wants to buy, pods pick from the menu or pitch their own ideas. Stories have a forecast value, some teams chase points, some go after what they are excited about.
What are you doing? Scrum teams same as before? Pods? Ripley in the mech suit in Aliens aka AI powered teams of 1?
